This is part 2 of our series of posts related to our weekend at Great Wolf Lodge. The previous 2 posts can be found here: (Prequel, Part 1)
Saturday Hayden woke up before 6. He was at least in a relatively decent mood. I took Hayden upstairs so Violet and Libby could sleep in. Once Libby and Violet woke up, I stayed with the kids and did breakfast while Libby went to Meijer to get food for the trip. After eating breakfast and packing up everything we were off to Great Wolf Lodge!
Prior to Great Wolf Lodge, we stopped and Maris and Karen’s house up north for lunch. They live on a lake. Since the kids were just a little sick and it was 60 outside we decided to let them wade in the Lake. Getting them to eat lunch was a bit of a challenge since they were excited about the lake and going to Great Wolf Lodge. Luckily Maris and Karen had cars, puzzles, and Word Girl on the internet to keep the kids occupied. After eating lunch, we packed the kids up in the car to make the last stretch to Great Wolf Lodge.
We got to great wolf lodge and checked into our room. Immediately after we checked in, we went down to the waterpark. Since Violet and Hayden were both under 42″ tall, they got red bracelets to indicate they couldn’t go down the big adult slides. Even though Hayden couldn’t go down the big slides, he more than made up for it by going down the small slide to the right close to 100 times (seriously; we were there for 4 hours and that’s pretty much all he did).
Violet went down the small slides, climbed in the water tree house and went in the “lazy” river. Violet must not know what the definition of lazy is because she ran around and around and around the lazy river rather than floating in it. Between Hayden and Violet, I think you could measure there fun in miles.
Amazingly, the kids were relatively compliant when it was time for dinner. We went up to the room got showers and got the kids into their pajamas. Grandma Sue laid with Hayden until he fell asleep (about 1.3 minutes) while Violet went down to the lobby with Libby and Lisa for story time.
As you can see from the picture, there were people in costumes telling stories. In addition to this, they were singing songs stomping and howling like wolves.
While Sue was watching Hayden and Libby and Lisa were watching Violet, Chuck, Stacey, Karl and I went back to the waterpark. With no kids to supervise, it was time for us to act like kids. Since we were all taller than 42″, we pulled a Hayden on the big slides and went up at least 15 times before we had to leave and go to bed ourselves.
Compared to Friday and Saturday, Sunday went really well with the splashing at Maris and Karen’s and with the splashing at Great Wolf Lodge. Part 3 of the “What a Weekend!” series will wrap up out eventful weekend with a blow by blow of the last day.
