A Trip to the Mighty Mackinac

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Back in June, Mike had a trip to the Straits of Mackinac to go scuba diving. We decided to make it a great family trip. He had been out of town for work, so he decided to fly directly up north so he could make it to his scuba trip on time. I drove with the kids up to meet him in St. Ignas.

A trip that probably should have only taken 4.5 hours ended up taking us 8 hours – we stopped at every rest area along the way and stopped for two meals in addition to several gas stations. Vi was having some tummy troubles, so needless to say it was a very long drive. All-in-all they really did great.

We made it to the bridge in time to see the lights turn on! If you didn’t get a chance, you should check out the video that Violet took. (see below)

Since Mike had his scuba dives to do over both days, I took the kids on an adventures with just us! We hit up the standard places: Mystery Spot, Castle Rock and Sea Shell City. We also spent lots of time looking through the rocks and just spending time outside.

When we met up with Mike we were able to head over to Mackinac Island. We biked around the whole island, had some fudge and saw some horses.

We managed to also go to Fort Mackinac, visit the lighthouse and so many other things it’s hard to remember. Be sure to check out our photo album to see all the amazing things we managed to fit into 3 days (minus Mike’s awesome scuba adventure!).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dFQkoUUBUc” title=”A trip over the bridge”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
