Different but the Same

I got a picture of Hayden a few weeks ago after he had climbed into the cat bed. He climbs up and calls for Mike and I. He knows very well that he’s not supposed to climb up there, but he’s there nonetheless. He loves to climb up and give the cats ‘hugs’ and once he said he was going to sleep there too. Violet did the exact same thing (well, just climbing up and trying to be with the cats, not the sleeping part) when she was younger and she was just as proud as Hayden.

It’s pretty neat to see how different they are as they are growing. But there are still these times when I think how amazingly similar they are. Hayden had never seen Violet climb into the cat perch, and she was quick to tell on him, but it was almost like deja-vu seeing him up there.

They’re both getting to such a great age where they can either play together or they can play independently. When they play together, it usually lasts about 10-15 minutes before the yelling starts, but those 10-15 minutes are amazing.

Both kids are super smart, and it is always so hard to not compare them, but I wonder how many more of Violet’s footsteps Hayden’s going to follow without even knowing it. They absolutely adore each other – I hope that lasts!
