A weekend without Dad

Mike left for Japan early this weekend, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to have some fun with the kids. Before he left, Mike took the kids to Golfland Sunsplash for an evening of fun at the waterpark after they got out of school. They had a blast! One of the promotions they had going was that if you bought a package for the Sunsplash (waterpark) portion, you could add on all of the “dry” activities for cheap – you just had to redeem it within 10 days.

Since it was going to be another hot weekend, I figured outdoor non-waterpark activities would best take place earlier in the day so we opted for Sunday. Hayden already had a play-date with a friend (!) scheduled for Saturday. Saturday, Violet and I hung out, painted our nails and just relaxed while HD was off having fun at an Aquatic Center (kind of like a mini-waterpark that is SUPER cheap) with his friend.

Sunday was our real fun day. We arrived at Golfland Sunsplash right when they opened and proceeded to play mini-golf, and the funnest bumper cars I’ve ever done. It was still getting pretty hot, so we moved on to the inside and played in the arcade and then laser tag. The kids didn’t like laser tag quite too much – it was huge, dark, had fog machines that would go off if you got too close, and it was just the three of us playing (the kids vs me). It wasn’t as much fun as we’d hoped.

After we had our fill there, we drove back home and jumped in the pool. Thank goodness for our pool. We didn’t have much time to spare though because I had gotten us tickets to see The Lion King at the movie theatre! The kids were surprised.

All-in-all it was a fun-filled weekend.
