Scribbles

This morning Violet was watching as I was putting my birthday checks in the mail to send to the bank.  I endorsed the back of the check with my signature and Violet asked “Why did you scribble on the check?”  I told her that this was my signature.  She asked “What is a signature?”  I told her it is a special way that someone writes their name.  She thought for a minute and then said “Daddy, that looks very messy.  You can write your name better than that.” 

I have to admit, my signature could be improved upon…
