One less finger… – ZMLS

One less finger…

…nail, that is. Soon. I hope.

Last month or so, Violet shut Hayden’s hand in a door at daycare. It went from black, to purple to multi-colored, and finally to brown. We knew it was due to fall off, but were hoping it wouldn’t. It is currently hanging on by part of a cuticle. Since neither Mike or I have ever lost a nail, it makes us both a little uncomfortable, but we’re troopers (Hayden is too).

So, should we just rip it off? Or wait? We’ve done some consulting with Grandma Z and decided to let it be. I’ve been soaking it in epsom salts, and Saturday night we put antibiotic ointment on it with a bandaid.
It is stubborn. Hayden has requested that I cut it off, but I can’t do that. We’ve tried to encourage Hayden to just pull it off. He vehemently states, “no!” In response to that one.

I have a feeling it will happen at daycare. We’ll see though!

  1. It did officially come of at daycare a few days later. So glad I didn't have to deal with that one!
