As resourseful and responsible parents, we generally work to fix things when they break rather than replace them. This holds true for Violet’s dresser. Even though we purchased it less than a year ago, it started to fall apart. I’m sure some of it had to do with young ones climbing the drawers, or filling them over capacity, or slamming them closed repeatedly, but regardless, it should have lasted longer.
Mike decided that he could disassemble and reassemble with wood glue and brackets to reinforce the joints to make it last for *hopefully* a few more years. Therefore, the kids had to help.
The first thing that had to be done was emptying all of the drawers onto the floor. Violet was eager to do that part. Then came out the glue, hammer and drill. Hayden loved the drill. Violet was great at hammering. No one was injured. All-in-all it was a resounding success.
I knew we should have waited to put the new window in our bedroom – so we could have Hayden and Violet help us!!! Doh! Grammy.
It makes me truly appreciate all of the time that you guys spent with allowing me to "help" with various projects around the house.
