Our little Violet seems to have bad luck with her bike. A couple weeks ago, she ended up with a flat tire. As a family, we all worked together to change it. Then, just this past week, her other tire went flat. Again, we (I say we, but it’s really Mike with his tire knowledge that allow us to function) changed her other tire. This second tire change was a little more comprehensive though as it was the back tire.
In order to change the back tire, we (Mike) removed the training wheels and pretty much had to disassemble a majority of the bike to get the wheel off. With the wheel off, the replacement tube was easy-peasy and we were ready to put it back together and get Violet back on the road, as it were.
Then came a grand idea. We decided to give the no training wheels a spin since they were off anyway. (I’m pretty punny, eh?). Violet was a little hesitant, but after some convincing, she gave it a go. To be prepared, we put on her elbow and knee pads as a ‘just in case’ and that made her feel a lot better.
Needless to say, she didn’t fall over. She also didn’t really balance very well either. Luckily, Mike was with her the entire time. When she made it back to the house, she cried. She was really sad that she wasn’t able to actually ride her bike by herself without her training wheels. After some pep-talk about how absolutely very proud of her we were that she even TRIED, she seemed to feel better.
She agreed that every once in a while, she’d give it another try, and even if she can’t pedal by herself, at least she is making progress by trying. We’re very proud of her.
Please let Violet know that when she has to try again and again, that she will be that much more proud of herself when she finally can do it. Keep trying Bobbi, we're all proud of you. We all had to learn just like you are now.<br />Much love, Grammy.
