Hayden has gone from not too super talkative to full sentences, full thoughts, full stories, and strong opinions. It seems like it has happened just overnight, but I’m sure this has been gradual, yet, I think that this morning I seemed to notice it more.
Both kids are now beginning to attempt to help me get dressed in the mornings. This goes from which bra I am to wear to which shirt I should (or shouldn’t wear) and whether all of my clothes match to their liking. Hayden disagreed with my choice of shirt today because, “it had TOO many stars.” I wore it anyway, and he begrudgingly stopped handing me other shirts from my drawers. He let me know that it “didn’t look nice.” So glad he has confidence in me.
Both kids pick out their own clothes now too. Violet is willing to take some coaching and sometimes will take my advice. Usually she does really well other than judging what to wear based on temperature. I really don’t care if her clothes match. Lately, she has wanted to wear sweaters with pants. I know I can at least bring a change of clothes for her to daycare. Hayden, on the other hand, does not wish to hear what I have to say when it comes to his clothes. Today was a “fast clothes” day. His underwear HAD to be The Incredibles. I managed to convince him that the shorts I had picked out were, in fact, fast shorts. But the shirt. Oh my goodness. Nothing was fast enough for him. I asked, “how about the frog shirt?” No. “Frogs hop. They are not fast.” He decided that today was going to be a rocket ship pajama shirt (which is long sleeved and warm). No ifs, ands, or buts about it. When I asked about any other shirt his response was, “No. That’s not fast. I’m fast, see?” and he would proceed to run around making a zooming sound. “I need fast clothes.” Okay, buddy, you can wear the rocket ship. And he did.
OMG!!! Grammy
