Once inside, the dentist (dental hygienist, but Hayden and Violet know her as the dentist) showed Hayden the straw with the suction. She first squirted water into the cup with the squirt gun and then let him suck it out with the straw. Seeing all of this water made Hayden thirsty, so he asked for some water. When asked if he wanted it from the cup or the squirt gun, he quickly said that he wanted it from the squirt gun.
After he got some water, it was time to clean his teeth. While the dentist was cleaning his teeth, it was his job to hold the suction straw. After she got done cleaning each tooth, he left the suction straw in his mouth for several seconds until EVERY BIT of saliva was out of his mouth. Good thing he only has 20 teeth. Any more, and he would have been suffering from dehydration.
The dentist said that Hayden was the best 2 year old she has ever had. That is a fair statement, since Violet was 3 when she first went to the dentist. To celebrate his good behaviour, I took him to Bob Evans (down on the farm) for breakfast. Because of the breakfasts after the dentist and the fact that the kids get toys, both of them love getting their teeth cleaned.
Good job Hayden! You guys know you're going to have to install one of those suctions straws in your dining room now :)

gramma sue
What I can't figure out is how these kids are growing up so fast and the rest of us are not aging at all… It's a miracle. Grammy
